One of the questions I always ask myself when I’m working on new pieces and trying out new ideas, is
“Is this done?”
And quite frankly, it never is. Especially in exploring concepts, a drawing is never really done. There are always iterations and always more ways to try new things and to play with the same elements in different ways over and over. That’s where the fervor lies. To chase all those combinations and patterns over and over. It’s that zeal to unravel it all and discover all possibilities– and to that there’s never an end.
This new exploration is an evolution of a long standing play between space and dimension. For this one, I masked areas at random covering as much as possible, filling with either a solid color or pattern. I used washi tape as my mask and filled in the solid color in areas that were showing. Then as I peeled the washi tape off, I revealed the covered areas, filling them with patterns one by one. Of course, there is much more I’d like to explore with this method. I am thoroughly tickled and enthralled by where it’s headed.

Overtime I’ve learned where I need to pause, and this is where I’ve usually discovered another thread of thought (that I can chase) and then, where I must start again, to continue chasing that thought. It’s that pause-point that just barely answers the question I started with and I’d say,
“For now. For now it is.”
